How can you connect to others if you can’t connect to yourself?

When we are in reaction or in our limbic response, otherwise known as fight-or-flight, we have disabled the medial prefrontal cortex–this is the area that allows us to feel empathy, consider other people’s internal thoughts, states and motivations.  If we want to connect more deeply in the world, we must first enable our medial prefrontal cortex by checking in with our own selves, reflecting on our sensations, mental images, feelings, thoughts and motivations.  What new connections are possible if you take some time to check in with yourself today?

To learn more about how the brain effects our perceptions, consider reading New Beliefs, New Brain or signing up for one of the many classes offered at the Neurosculpting® Institute.
