Joy discovered her love for languages during her time in Guatemala in 2007 while participating in a human rights delegation. That same year, she moved to Ecuador where she lived for 6 years and finished her studies of social development and environmental education. During the week, she taught middle and high school students Natural Science, Geography and Adventure classes and the weekends, she worked as an adventure tourism guide in the Andes. Often people say she seems to have lived many lives in one. One day while she was teaching an adventure class, she fell and began the process of receiving medical attention in her second language. When she returned to the United States, she had recognized how difficult it was to receive medical care in a second language, and began studying to be a medical interpreter so that she could better serve Spanish speakers in Colorado. Since she got her certificate in Neurosculpting, she has been looking for ways to provide this service in Spanish so that everyone can benefit from this incredible modality of stress management.
